Be honest: if I suggested renewable energy as an alternative to what you rely upon now, what would you think? Would you sneer dismissively? Would you be intrigued? Would you even know what I’m talking about? Unfortunately, it seems that even with energy services like the kind you can get through places like TexasElectricityProviders.com the world is still woefully misinformed when it comes to both the efficiency and reliability of renewable energy. In fact, if I were to suggest renewable energy to you now your mind might conjure some humorous anecdote about trying to power your stove with an old-fashioned water mill.

The fact of the matter, though, is that tremendous leaps and bounds have been made in the field of renewable energy. Homes are even being built with implements that allow the residents to take full advantage of solar energy, and that’s just one example. Wind power, hydropower and even thermal energy are all different kinds of energy that are slowly but surely making our dependence on fossil fuels a thing of the past. Good thing, too, when you think about it. After all, a time is coming when fossil fuels will no longer be an option and that’s not conjecture – it’s fact.

Are you looking to go paperless in the kitchen, you can start by tackling the most used item in the room, paper towels. The EPA estimates that paper products alone make up about 31 of household waste. Replacing your paper towels with do-it-yourself kitchen towels is an easy first step that goes a long way in your efforts to go green.
There are different types and textures of cloth that can be used for common kitchen tasks. Finding the best material for the job at hand requires some trial and error. For instance, using recycled sheets might not be the best for scrubbing countertops. But the cloth from those recycled sheets is perfect for cleaning up simple spills and hand towels. Take some old sheets and cut them into squares of the sizes needed. Two-ply sheets are better and will stand up to use over time better than a single-ply piece of cloth. Simply match two squares of the same material, or different on each side depending on your liking, and sew a hem around the four corners. Repeat process until you find yourself with enough towels to meet your kitchen needs. Wash and reuse. This is a great first step in going paperless.

Do you have old t-shirts and sweaters taking up space in your closet? Why not reuse them by turning them into yarn? The process is quite simple and takes little time. For sweaters, locate the knot at the bottom of the garment to get started. Either untie or cut the knot that is holding the sweater together. Then, just pull! Your sweater should come unraveled in no time. As you get more yarn, start rolling it into a ball to keep it neat and untangled. For t-shirts, the process is a little more involved, but not much. You will need scissors or a fabric cutting wheel. Start at the bottom of the t-shirt and start cutting the fabric into a half-inch strip. Cut around the t-shirt in order to keep one long piece of “yarn”. As with the sweater yarn, roll the fabric into a ball to keep it neat. You are now ready to create items out of your recycled fabric. T-shirts can be knitted, crocheted or braided into dish towels and rugs. Sweaters can be turned into scarves and pillows by crocheting or knitting them as well. Recycling shirts and sweaters is a fun way to clean out your closet and save the planet at the same time!

With the increase of pollution and hazards to our ozone layer and surrounding environment, a cleaner world tomorrow starts with you today. It is in our best efforts to work together and fight for a better tomorrow by little efforts a day which will add up to be a significant amount with the support and help of others.

One of the crucial aspects for a cleaner tomorrow is to recycle. Although it is stressed in the news and highlighted to be an important factor in improving the world, many families do not partake in recycling. This is a halt to the rest of us who strives for a better environment.

Another way to help our environment stay clean is to refrain from littering. By controlling and stopping our bad habits today, it will add up to a brighter future starting tomorrow. Fighting the urge to littler will gradually get you accustomed to good habits which will eventually spread. If you have the will to, picking up garbage on your way to work will help for a brighter day.

A more hands on and effective way for a cleaner tomorrow is to contribute to a greener world by planting. Plants facilitate us in cleaning the air, without much attention. It is out job to get this started and hope that our efforts will be joined by many. Tomorrow begins with you today.

A new type of art festival is appearing in local cities across America. With titles such as “Scrapfest”, turning your trash and recyclables into pieces of art can save money, help save the environment, and maybe turn of a profit for the inspired artists. Going green is high on the priority list and finding ways to reuse our waste materials are getting more and more creative. There are houses completely constructed out of used rubber tires and beer tires that rival any modern architectural designs. Popular modern artists are also using old materials to create new artwork on display in galleries. Used Popsicle sticks create a full-sized man sculpture to a designer dress created from old newsprint can be found in the art scene. Children art camps are starting to offer classes entitled, “eco-aware” artistry. The students are taught how to reuse and make things like jewelry from old bottle caps or decorated pen holders from old cans.
Some easy do it yourself recycle projects include reusing your old milk containers to create a bird feeder for your yard, or why not take used colored bottles and hang them a tree for yard decoration; a bottle tree. Reuse old tires in your garden for retaining walls or pots. Or just get creative. Gather what recyclables you have and create a treasure for you to showcase at the next festival.
